Welcome to my Website!
Hey! This site is now for helping to promote the Swift River Clan, Black Mountain Pack, and theTall Pines Pack role-playing wolf packs, as well as my own Light Valley Pack, in
The Black Mountain Saga!
The Black Mountain Pack
This pack is the original pack and is one of the oldest wolf packs in existance. Through its history it has experienced many triumphs and endured many trials. It's most recent trial has been the Sickness, a disease which destroyed many in the pack except for five members: Sage Ghost the female alpha, Fire Wind the elderly legend-holder, White Ash the beta, Pine Raven the hunter, and Bright Lark the flier. Now, alpha Sage Ghost, together with her mate the alpha Deepening Shadows must lead the Black Mountain Pack through yet another trial: War. The history is full, the story continues. Now is your chance to be a part of it.
The Swift River Clan
The Swift River Clan is the second of the two major packs currently a part of the Black Mountain Saga. Its history is far shorter but no less action-filled. Since the original break almost a generation ago, more wolves have been born and others have wandered to the borders and joined. Now, the Clan's numbers swell almost as much as those of the Black Mountain Pack. Alphas Mudclaw and Cattail are working quickly to ready their clan for what they know is inevitable... A new civil war that threatens to destroy both their clan and the Black Mountain Pack... One teardrop raises the river... One member can make a difference. Will it be you?
The Tall Pines Pack
The Tall Pines Pack lived, highly unnoticed, near the territory of the Black Mountain Pack. Then, tragedy struck. A fire wiped out much of their territory, seperating one pack member from the rest, and making him think they had died, and they thought the same for him. Now the pack is allied to The Black Mountain Pack, and is living once again nearby, and the wolf and his family are reunited. Though the war is here...who knows what will happen.
History of the Packs
The history of the Black Mountain Pack is far longer than could be told with the limited space I have here, so the history will explain the origin of the Swift River Clan and its relationship with the Black Mountain Pack. The following words are those of the Black Mountain Pack's legend keeper and elder, Fire Wind.
Fire Wind: "For many generations have we, the Black Mountain Pack, dwelled in our forest, in the shadows of the great Black Mountain. With the blessing of Black Wolf, the first wolf and our god, our numbers and our might grew. From the Black Mountain Valley we poured forth, expandin our power and our numbers swelled. Even when the sickness came for the first time, our spirit could not be crushed. Though many in our pack died, my own family included, we endured. But power innevitably corrupts, and in time, it would almost destroy us.
A generation ago, there was a tyrant of an alpha. Two Toes was his name, and he ruled with an iron paw the likes which I had never seen in my lifetime, nor had I ever heard in the old histories. Many of our members lived in fear of his wrath, for he declared the punishment for disobeying a direct order by any alpha to be death... It was during this time that the sickness returned to the pack. Our numbers began to fall.
A young soldier named Lightning Paw gathered support to him, convincing many of our numbers that the Sickness had come as punishment by Black Wolf for the wickedness of Two Toes. He led a revolt, but the majority were still loyal to the rightful alpha, a tyrant though he was. Lightning Paw's rebellion was swiftly crushed and he, with those who followed him, were banished. They crossed the great Snake River and formed their own pack, the Swift River Clan. Angrily they turned their backs on the traditions and beliefs of the Black Mountain Pack.
The pack might soon have been destroyed, but not for what happened next. Though only one other in the pack besides myself knows the truth of the matter, I tell you now so that when we pass from this world, when we return to the Mountain in the sky, this great deed may not be forgotten. Two Toes' daughter and heir apparent, Sage Ghost, rose up against her father, fueled by loyalty to her pack and an anger that she kept concealed deep within her soul. She destroyed him and thus became the new alpha.
Only I was present, and White Ash, her best, perhaps her only real friend, found out a short time later the truth... But together, and knowing the laws of the pack, we helped her hide the deed. The body of the dishonored was buried in a dung hill outside the pack's boundaries, and it was declared that Sage Ghost had defeated her father in battle and had banished him for his wickedness. This is the story that would live on for many a generation... The truth would be known only to White Ash, to me, and to those who follow in my paw steps.
The sickness soon abated, but our trials were not over. It started as such a quiet thing, a whisper among the trees, but before long, it happened. In our weakened state, we were not prepared. Lightning Paw returned with his followers, now nearly as numerous as we. He had changed, and his name had as well, for he had rejected the name given him by the spirits of the forest, instead taking his own name... Dark River, first alpha of the Swift River Clan. War engulfed both packs, each one trying to overthrow the other and take over the territory. The battles were bloody, the deaths too horrid and too many to name.
By the end, few were left. Only five Black Mountain wolves six Swift River wolves remained. With the low numbers, the war ceased, both packs far too weak to continue. But the power over our vast territory could no longer be held. Other, stronger packs slowly stole back the territory we had taken from them, or new packs emerged and stole still more territory. In the end, we of the Black Mountain Pack were left with only the Black Mountain Valley itself for our own. The Swift River Clan managed to hold the river and lake areas, and so became natural swimmers...
That is how we came to be where we are... We are mindful of our past. We endure our present... But we live for our future... "
